Event: Afro Market - Christmas Edition Clearance Sales!
Date: Saturday, December 20, 2025
Location: Thorncliffe Community Hall, Calgary
Time: 11 AM to 7 PM
The countdown is on! The Afro Market – Christmas Edition is set to be one of the most exciting vendor markets of the year. We want every vendor to enjoy the festive atmosphere and sell out their products while making new customers for life.

Here’s your step-by-step guide to prepare, attract the right buyers, and make this market your most profitable event of 2025.
Step 1: Secure Your Spot Early
Start with the flyer – Share it on your personal and business social media, WhatsApp groups, email lists, and print a few for local community boards. Use this opportunity to tell friends and prospective customers what you plan to sell and why they should visit your table.
Book your table right away by visiting our official vendor registration page:👉 Vendor Registration Here
When booking, reserve a power source if you need electricity for lights, cooking, freezing, charging devices, or running displays. These are limited and first-come, first-served.
💡 Tip: Vendors who book early get more time to promote their presence at the market, which usually means more sales! SELECT YOUR TABLE NOW!
Step 2: Plan Your Inventory for a Christmas & Winter Crowd
This is a clearance sales event, so come prepared with:
Discounted stock you want to clear before the new year. Start now to order or sort your clearance sale items; one or two items are okay.
Remember festive and seasonal items that people love buying in December. Examples include:
- Christmas decorations, ornaments, and gift packs.
- Winter wear like coats, scarves, gloves, and blankets.
- Warm and cozy items such as candles, throws, and slippers.
- Comfort foods & treats – think hot pepper soups, baked goods, cocoa mixes, and traditional holiday snacks.
- Wholesale goods like bags of rice, yam, and whole chicken.
- Creating parceled goods for gift/boxed items could attract last-minute Christmas present buyers.
💡 Pro move: Bundle small products into gift-ready packs. People LOVE grab-and-go gift options during the holidays! It’s a happy time to share and be merry. If you can create small items to give out for FREE, such as small chops, suya, or spicy kebabs, people will love it.
Step 3: Create Buzz Before the Event
Don’t wait until the market opens to start selling – build excitement NOW.
Talk to people, your friends, and potential customers. People that buy from you currently. Tell them how exciting this Christmas season will be with the Afro Market - Christmas Edition.
Make a short video showing your products and post it on Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, and WhatsApp.
Showcase your best deals, especially clearance items and seasonal specials.
Use hashtags like #AfroMarketChristmasEdition #CalgaryVendors #ShopLocalYYC so more people see your post.
💡 Tip: Tag us in your posts so we can share them on the official market page for extra visibility.
Step 4: Food Vendor Guidelines & Tips
Food vendors, we’ve heard your feedback!
Food vendors may bring a maximum of 2 different food or meal options to keep quality high and service fast. This way, you won’t stress about packing lots of items, and you give others the opportunity to prepare their best two items as well. We are looking for quality, excellence, and value.
💡 Tip: If possible, we encourage vendors to offer small sample portions (drinks, snacks, or bites) to grab guest interest and encourage purchases.
Popular seasonal food ideas:
Hot soups & stews (Goat meat or fish pepper soup, spicy food, amala/ewedu, ofe onugbu, nkwobi, etc.).
Freshly baked goods (meat pies, holiday cookies, festive bread). Remember there will be kids as well.
Hot drinks (tea, cocoa, mulled juice).
Step 5: Make Your Table Unmissable
Shoppers are drawn to attractive, welcoming stalls.
Use bright tablecloths, banners, or signs with your brand name.
Add festive touches – string lights, small Christmas trees, and gift wrap accents.
Clearly display prices – this helps customers shop quickly.
💡 Bonus idea: Offer a “Buy 2, Get 1 Free” or “Spend $50, Get a Gift” deal to encourage bigger purchases.

Step 6: Be Ready for the Rush
The goal is to sell out, so:
Bring more stock than you think you’ll need.
Have change for cash buyers and a way to accept card payments (Square, PayPal, e-transfer).
Keep small bags ready for quick transactions.
Step 7: Spread the Word
We sell out our vendor spots faster when you help promote.
Post on your social media with the market flyer.
Invite friends, family, and customers to shop with you.
Share the event details in community Facebook groups and WhatsApp chats. (We will share examples later).
The more people you bring, the more sales you make – and the faster the whole market sells out!
💡 Bonus Tip: Order your business cards early. Be ready to share and spread the word. There is a location in Calgary NE that can print business cards on the same day if you are lucky. Check them out here. (Just mention DJ EL/Afro Market Christmas Edition to receive discounts).
Step 8: Entertainment
DJ EL will be there with other pro entertainers, Gospel artists, an MC, and paparazzi to entertain the house with Christmas carols and shout-outs. We are also looking at setting up a big screen for advertising. If you are interested in showcasing your business in any of the options we have available, register as a sponsor and let’s make this event grand. Get ready to have fun and dance while you sell. We look forward to a memorable day!

🎄 Final Word: The Afro Market – Christmas Edition is not just about selling; it’s about building community, connecting with customers, creating awareness for what you do, and ending the year strong. Let’s make Saturday, December 20, 2025, a day of great food, amazing finds, and joyful shopping – and for you, a day where you pack up with nothing left to sell!
🎄 Merry Christmas in advance! :)
